In times of distress…

In the time of distress or crises, we seek comfort in knowing that things will be all right and it will get better. There is this need to know that our Father, Yahweh hears us and not only that but that He will bring comfort to us in such a time of fear and worry. We as humans need to feel the security of well being around and within us.

We cry, we stress out, we fight, and displace our pain unto others and maybe to our pets as well. However, as our faith is been stretched, we long to read scripture to feel assured that our prayers are been heard. Be assured your prayers are been heard and while we know it’s His will to be fulfilled in our lives – we still need Him to bring comfort to us and by reading our favorite scripture, we do feel that connection.

Here is a list of scripture to read in times of distress. I pray that as you read them, you will find that one special bible verse to cling too.

Genesis 32:7 Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;

Genesis 35:3 | And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.

Genesis 42:21  And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

Numbers 22:3 And Moab was sore afraid of the people because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel.

Deuteronomy 2:9  And the LORD said unto me, Distress, not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.

Deuteronomy 2:19  And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.

Deuteronomy 28:53 And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:

Deuteronomy 28:55 So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.

Deuteronomy 28:57 And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.

Judges 2:15 Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.

Judges 10:9 Moreover the children of Ammon passed over Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sore distressed.

Judges 11:7 And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, Did not ye hate me, and expel me out of my father’s house? and why are ye come unto me now when ye are in distress?

1 Samuel 13:6 When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait, (for the people were distressed,) then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.

1 Samuel 14:24 And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.

Nehemiah 9:37 And it yieldeth much increase unto the kings whom thou hast set over us because of our sins: also they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.

Psalms 4:1  (To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm of David.) Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me and hear my prayer.

Psalms 18:6  In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

Psalms 25:17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.

Psalms 107:6 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.

Psalms 107:13  Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.

Psalms 107:19  Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.

Psalms 107:28  Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.

Psalms 118:5  I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me and set me in a large place.

Psalms 120:1  (A Song of degrees.) In my distress, I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.

Proverbs 1:27  When your fear cometh as desolation and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

Isaiah 25:4  For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

Isaiah 29:2  Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow: and it shall be unto me as Ariel.

Isaiah 29:7  And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her munition, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision.

Zephaniah 1:17  And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.

Luke 21:23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
